How I feel about this character: I have a lot of feelings about Snow White, because she is so often misjudged and bashed for her “weak personality”. Snow White is not weak. Not at all. She also does not represent anti-feminism as so many of you believe.
One of the many things I cannot stand is when someone calls Snow White an idiot for eating the apple. Snow White is the epitome of innocence. She’s not totally aware of the evils in the world, and she wouldn’t expect it to come from an old woman carrying apples. Like whenever I see old people, I don’t assume they’re evil, even after having watched this movie multiple times. Also, someone please tell me what’s wrong with eating an apple in the first place? I mean, the old hag told her that all her wishes would come true. And guess what, if someone told me to eat a peach because my wishes would come true in one bite, well then I would eat the fucking peach. Because even though I wouldn’t believe a word, I would look at that peach and be like “oh well, shits and giggles if this doesn’t work, it’s just a peach. Not gonna kill meh.” No one ever suspects fruits to be evil, hence why the Queen was such a fucking hbic. Even now, if someone hands you a banana, do you take the banana or do you go “My god woman, I’m not stupid. You’re obviously giving me that banana because you want me to DIE”.
So in conclusion, I speculate that if you’re judging Snow White for taking that apple,
- you probably are opposed to hags. But lets remember that Snow White is not shallow like 90% of us, so she does not hate on old people with a bunch of warts.
- you were thinking about how Snow White should’ve known the hag was sketchy. I mean, it’s not like Snow White was in a different scene at the time, or anything. She was obviously watching the Queen make the apple like the rest of us, so she should know the Queen was the hag.
- you feel the need to complain, just because you’re a complainer, and that’s what complainers do.
Oh, and why is Snow White blamed for running away? If your mom was out to kill you, you’d run away too. The stupid decision would be to stay in her radar so she can plot your death while you’re busy scrubbing the floors.
But anyway, I guess I should talk about the ~positives~. Snow White is lovely, and without her, there’d be no Disney princesses. I love how she’s all sweet, but then when someone goes “I’m not watching my hands”, she cracks that whip and pulls out the “then you’re not getting any dinner” card. Plus, I just adore the whole ‘keep on wishing’ ideal that the classic Disney princesses showcase so well.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: The Prince, obviously. I don’t care that they only got a few minutes together, nor do I care that they just met and were off to get married. Nor do I care about your cynical opinion of how unrealistic the whole relationship is. Although they’re not necessarily my favorite Disney couple, they embody the classic Disney motifs of “love at first sight” and “true love conquers all”.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Snow White and Grumpy have the best friendship in this whole movie. At first he’s all like, “Woman are evil”, and then he’s all like “Snow White, aren’t you gonna kiss me goodbye too?”. I mean, you don’t get much more relationship-building than that. It’s also refreshing to know that there was someone who didn’t fall for Snow White’s charm, and actually had to learn to like her.
My unpopular opinion about this character: ”I hate Snow White because her voice is fucking annoying.” is probably one of the many lines that drives me up the wall. I understand that her voice can be irritating to some people, but disliking a character for that sole reason alone? It’s moronic. I mean, I don’t understand why everyone is so critical over pointless things that hardly do anything for her character. It’s just unnecessary nitpicking imo, and shows that you judge a character for shallow reasons.
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Hardly anything different. This movie was a masterpiece. If I had to pick something, maybe a couple more scenes with the Prince and her. But honestly, the “one song” scene was enough for me and showcased their dynamic and feelings for each other perfectly~.
